Former Mothers Against Drunk Driving CEO Joins UAF

ORANGE COUNTY, California, Feb. 18, 2025 – United Against Fentanyl, a national organization dedicated to “innovative, bold, and effective initiatives,” today announced the appointment of Debbie Weir as an Advisory Board Member. Ms. Weir, formerly of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Moms Demand Action, brings decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and community mobilization. She will provide strategic guidance to the organization to help scale its initiatives including Walk for Lives, to be held in hundreds of U.S. cities later this year.

Ms. Weir has spent her career leading high-impact national initiatives, strengthening advocacy efforts, and mobilizing communities to drive policy change. As CEO at MADD, she played a crucial role in reducing impaired driving deaths. She later served as Chief Mission Officer at Everytown for Gun Safety, where she helped shape gun violence prevention strategies and supported the rapid expansion of Moms Demand Action, one of the largest grassroots advocacy movements in the country.

Before joining UAF, Ms. Weir spent over 20 years working with nonprofit organizations, focusing on public safety, victim advocacy, and policy reform. She has a proven track record of expanding programs, increasing public engagement, and securing critical legislative victories. For many years, she has worked to support families grieving loss due to drunk driving, gun violence, and cancer.
